Equipping educators with the tools to lead puppetry and visual theatre units within a school context is a core part of the Dead Puppet Society Education program. We have developed a deeply practical approach to scaffolding the learning and skills development of students while also offering a clear pedagogy for teachers to apply within their own classrooms.
Dead Puppet Society offers teachers the chance to be guided through our methodology of visual theatre and design-led practice, and offers a crash course in the skills needed to support school students in the areas of puppetry, contemporary performance, visual theatre, and ensemble performance.
A professional development session will give teachers a hands-on practical learning opportunity to cover the following areas:
- Introduction to Puppetry and Manipulation
- Introduction to Abstract and Object Puppetry
- Devising for Visual Theatre
- Storyboarding and Stagecraft
- Puppet Construction
- Shadow Play
- Visual Theatre Conventions and how to approach them
- Directing for Visual Theatre and Ensemble Performance
